Bright Lights and Night Lights – Part 2
Robert Jeffress, 2026-09-15

… as well. We need to study the Word of God. Fourthly, memorize the Word of God. Memorize the Word of God. Psalm 119 verse 11 says, your Word I have treasured in my heart that I might not sin against you. We need to commit God's Word to memory so that when we're in the heat of spiritual battle, just like Jesus, we can recall those specific verses that speak to our situation. Now, I know some of you are getting defensive at this moment when I talk about memorizing the Bible. You say, well, I can't even remember where I put my keys last night. How am I going to memorize the scriptures? You know, let's just say I said to you today, Colossians 3 is a great chapter to memorize. By the way, I did that years ago, memorize Colossians 3, and it still comes back to me. But suppose I were to say to you, I really want to challenge you to memorize Colossians 3 this week. And next Sunday, we're all going to come back and we're going to stand and recite it together. And by the way, everyone who successfully memorizes Colossians 3, I'm going to give a check to you for $100,000. How many of you think you could learn Colossians 3 in a week's time for $100,000? You see, it's not a question of ability. It's a question of motivation, isn't it? …

Into The Dark Realm – Part 2
Jack Hibbs, 2026-08-26

… And by that I mean by this, you need to have it in your heart. Thy word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you. Because the enemy will come and he'll look for those things that will trip you up to sin. If you are absolutely, you know you're weak when it comes to donuts. you just can't you don't have the power to go buy a Krispy Kreme you can't even drive by one So what do you do? Listen, you determine, I know now how to get to the other side of town by not going down that street where there's a Krispy Kreme. And while you are avoiding the evil, fighting against it, resisting it, you're also asking the Lord, give me the power to someday have this strong enough to where I can go into that Krispy Kreme and rescue people from gluttony. And that's a huge victory. think of that it's amazing but the armor that we put on is critically important and I want you to consider this the third thing is this in closing into the dark realm we really need to know and understand this life of ours that God's given us and by that I mean this here that look at you and I in this present in this present realm in which you and I exist in this human condition that you and I are right now we don't look very militant look at you you're laid back, you're relaxing …

Called To Be An Influencer – Part 2
Jack Hibbs, 2026-08-16

… Thy word, says the psalmist, have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119, verse 11. The scribe Ezra declared that he prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord and to do it and to teach Israel. His statutes and judgments, Ezra chapter 7, verse 10. Ironside goes on. In the broader context of Proverbs, wisdom is not merely intellectual knowledge, but a practical knowledge that is lived or should be lived out, right? I guess in relationship with God in such a way that he affects every decision. That's our decisions, relationship and action. Trust God with all your heart is the foundation upon which all other wisdom is built. You can say amen to that. That is a great word. God wants you and I to be a blessing. In Genesis chapter 12 verse 1, a very profound portion of scripture regarding blessing. Now the Lord had said to Abram, get out of your country, that is Ur of the Chaldees, that is a pagan land. …

You Are What You Eat
Robert Jeffress, 2026-08-10

… facing. If it was necessary for Jesus to hide the word of God in his heart, how much more important is it for us to do it? Psalm 119 11, thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against God. We listen, we read, we study, we memorize. And then fifth is perhaps the most important one. we need to meditate on the word of God. Meditate. And what do I mean by meditate? You mean get yourself in some transcendental trance and you know, no, that's not what meditation is. Here's the definition of meditation. Literally it means to turn over in your mind, referred to a cow chewing its cud to turn over in your mind. The living Bible, Psalm one captures it best. oh the joys of those who do not follow evil men's advice who do not hang around with sinners scoffing at the things of God but they delight in doing everything God wants them to and they are day and night meditating on God's word here it is thinking of ways to follow him more closely that's what meditation is god didn't give us his word to make us smarter sinners he gave us his word to make us more obedient disciples of christ that's what it means to meditate thinking about god's word thinking about how it applies to you and making what change is necessary this week earlier in the week i was listening to god's word i was listening to a sermon and it …

How to Study Your Bible
Skip Heitzig, 2026-08-09

… Oh, let me not wander from your commandments. Your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you. Blessed are you, O Lord. Teach me your statutes. With my lips I have declared all the judgments of your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies. as much as in all riches. I will meditate on your precepts and contemplate your ways. I will delight myself in your statutes. I will not forget your word. Now we're gonna skip a lot. Go over to verse 97 now. You have to probably turn a page like I did. Psalm 119, verse 97. Oh, how I love your law. Listen, it is my meditation all the day. You, through your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep your precepts. I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I may keep your word. …

… yes, than much fine gold. Psalm 119.11, the psalmist says, your word have I treasured in my heart that I might not sin against you. What does that mean? To treasure in your heart means to hide or store something. So obviously this verse and others are advocating and encouraging Bible memorization. Do you have any Bible verses memorized? If not, why not? You say, oh Greg, I just can't memorize scripture. Oh yes you can. You have lines from movies that you quote all the time. You have lyrics from songs you've memorized. You have so much information and data in your brain that you've committed to memory. Certainly you can make some room for the Word of God because none of those things are going to help you in a time of trouble. lyrics of songs or lines from movies are not going to sustain you when you're facing adversity in life but the word of God will so commit it to memory You know, I've heard people describe a trip to Israel as seeing the Bible actually come to life. …

… we can purify our speech is by meditating on God's word. How can a man cleanse his ways? By keeping his way according to thy word. Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against God. Finally, how do we control our speech? Remember your accountability to God for your words. Remember your accountability to God for your words. I had an experience a few years ago I hope I never have to repeat again. I was called to testify in a federal lawsuit. And I went up and stood before the judge, raised my right hand, put my other hand on the Bible, swore to tell the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth. So help me God. I sat down in the witness chair and the plaintiff's attorney first grilled me for a long time. And then the defendant's attorney grilled me. And then the judge who didn't particularly like me anyway, he said he had a few questions for me as well. And all the time I was talking, I looked over out of the side and I saw a court reporter down there recording every word that I was speaking, every word. And I realized that in the future, both sets of lawyers and the judge were going to pour over every word that I said. And I'd better not speak any untruth, not only to avoid embarrassment, but to avoid jail time as well. It was really a very sobering experience. …

The Way Of Wisdom Will Save Your Life
Jack Hibbs, 2026-05-31

… Your word I have hidden. The word is treasured up in my heart that I might not sin against you. I love this. Men, listen up. I'm just talking to the guys. Are you struggling with something? Listen, I got the fix. I got the fix. Whatever it might be. Is it gambling? Is it stress? Is it panic? Is it porn? Is it fear? Is it, what is, I don't care what it is. I've got the fix. Take his word, treasure it up. Watch, put it in and it's here. Watch. It starts to grow. It starts to grow. The word of God. Romans 10, 17, faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God. Your faith's going to increase. Watch this from the inside out. The word is going to grow and it's going to push out all that stuff that easily besets you. This is the fix. In fact, you guys, I've told you before and I've remembered finally this time, I want to show you when I'm counseling with someone, I'm listening to what they're talking about and I'll write down Bible verses as they come to mind about what is the prescription for their issue. …

WHO IS THIS | Chad Veach

… is not producing because it's not even in there oh god it's not even in there it's already stolen that's why the bible says thy word have i hidden in my heart that i might not sin against thee is this encouraging anybody anybody understand what the what jesus is trying to show who he is he's trying to reveal who we are who we are sometimes the bible will show you his authority other times the Bible will reveal our human condition. Why does he do this? Because we have a propensity to spring up with joy and not last a long time. We have a propensity to fall in love with money and wealth and pleasure more than God. But those that have good soil, the Bible lands on it and it produces a harvest. The message said, beyond our wildest dreams, You're not just believing for somebody today that God's word will land in your heart and work in you something you could never work in yourself. …

… in you was designed so that you can recognize him and commune and fellowship with him. your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you I can still hear my mom's mom my grandma quoting this verse I think she was trying to help me she would quote this verse for me you know how can a young man cleanse his way and then she'd go into this one your word I've hidden my heart that I might not sin against you let's stop and look at that that concept for just a moment. Your word I've hid in my heart that I might not sin against you. Do you know what happens when you worry? You're actually planting a lie into your heart until the roots grow down and affect your soul. They actually impact thinking, values, emotions. All those things come under the influence of whatever it is you're worrying about. Anxiety, fear, resentment, jealousy, suspicion, offense, all of those things, when they're held dear, the longer you hold it, the deeper the roots get. That's why repentance has to be so deeply felt when we turn things over to Jesus. It's not a mere, you know, oh, by the way, forgive me, sorry about that. …

Teach the Word
David Platt, 2025-11-05

… How can a young man keep his way pure by living according to your word? Two verses later, I've hidden your word in my heart that I might not do what? Sin against you. This is the fuel that we have in becoming fully devoted followers of Christ and in showing Christ and teaching Christ. If we try to do it apart from the word, we will fail miserably. We are foolish to think that we can live this Christian life and accomplish this mission apart from his word. His truth sanctifies us in the world. We need his word. You will not get sanctification from TV and DVDs and internet. You will not get sanctification from all those things. You will find sanctification in the word. We've got to have. So we value his word as gift and we experience those effects. Now that mainly deals with how we follow Christ as disciples of Christ. We value His Word. We're seeing the example of Jesus here. But how does this look now, not just in my life, but in others' lives? …

So he says the first one, they don't even got a shot because the word, as soon as it's sown, it gets taken away. He said, the second one, they receive it with great joy. They're like, wow, Jesus is amazing. I love God. I'm going to go out and get a Zoe hoodie, a connected and community sticker, and I'm going to follow God. But as soon as things get hard, they're out. Because remember, you're looking for comfort. God's looking for character and things will get hard. Right. He said, they're gone. Third one, they love God. Hearers and Doers (James 1:19-25)
John MacArthur, 2023-08-20 · Scripture reading

… Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord. With all my heart I have sought you. Do not let me stray from your commandments. Another one, I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies as much as in all riches. This is what is rising out of the psalmist's heart. Contrast that with verse 155 of that psalm. is far from the wicked, for they do not seek your statutes." That is the distinguishing mark, the attitude towards Scripture. Jeremiah 6, 16 says, "'Thus says the Lord, Stand by the ways, and see and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls, but they said, we will not walk in it. If you walk in the Word, it's evidence of a transformed life through salvation. If you do not, it's evidence that you haven't been transformed. Listen to some other expressions from that 119th Psalm. I have chosen the way of truth. My heart stands in awe of your word. I delight in your law. …

WITH MY LIPS HAVE I DECLARED ALL THE JUDGMENTS OF THY MOUTH. I HAVE REJOICED IN THE WAY OF THY TESTIMONIES AS MUCH AS IN ALL RICHES. I WILL MEDITATE IN THY PRECEPTS AND HAVE RESPECT UNTO THY WAYS. I WILL DELIGHT MYSELF IN THY STATUTES. I WILL NOT FORGET THY WORD. NOW MY DEAR FRIEND, BEYOND THE SHUTE OF ANY DOUBT OR PER ADVENTURE, THE SUBJECT HERE IS HOW TO HAVE A CLEAN THOUGHT LIFE. BEYOND ANY DOUBT. LOOK IN VERSE NINE, WHEREWITHAL SHALL A YOUNG MAN CLEANSE HIS WAY. NOW I WANT TO GIVE YOU THREE STEPS. AND I PRAY GOD, THE HOLY SPIRIT, WILL ETCH THESE THINGS UPON YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS AND UPON YOUR MIND. IF YOU DON'T NEED THEM, SOMEBODY YOU KNOW NEEDS THEM. AND IF YOU'RE NOT HAVING A PROBLEM WITH SEXUAL LUST, YOU CAN APPLY WHAT I'M GOING TO SAY TO THE PROBLEM OF ANGER OR PRIDE OR GLUTTONY OR ANY OTHER KIND OF PROBLEM. THE PRINCIPLE IS THE SAME. SO LET'S SEE WHAT OUR LORD HAS TO SAY. NUMBER ONE, NUMBER ONE, ADMIT YOUR PROBLEM AND GET CLEAN. ADMIT YOUR PROBLEM AND GET CLEAN. LOOK IN VERSE NINE, WHEREWITHAL SHALL A YOUNG MAN CLEANSE HIS WAY? NOW WHEN HE SAYS HIS WAY HAS TO BE CLEANSED, THAT MEANS THAT HE KNOWS THAT THE …
