Rest For Your Soul - Jonathan Pickens
Jonathan Pickens, 2026-08-25

… Psalm 46, 10 says, be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, exalted in the earth. What's God doing? He's inviting us to watch him save us while we stop working, resting in his work. But he didn't just do that. He didn't just bless the day. He also made it holy. He set aside the seventh day and he made it holy. So side note, the Sabbath isn't about like doing whatever you want. It's not like a Netflix and chill day. This is an opportunity for you to engage in worship of the Lord. He wants you to fill your soul on who he is. How do you do that? Through resting. First you stop and then you rest. The second portion I want us to see is this idea of rest. In Genesis 2, going back to it in verse 2, it says that God completed his work. And then it says two times that he rested. And I want us to have this image in our mind for a minute. …

Called To Be An Influencer – Part 3
Jack Hibbs, 2026-08-23

… It's precious. Psalm 46, verse 10. Be still and yadah that I am God. be still and discover that I am God right in the middle of the situation you're in be still and discover that I'm here wherever you go. You know, wherever you go, God's there before you get there, and he's with you as you're going there. He's God. You can't be somewhere that he's not. Didn't Jonah have that dumb idea? Didn't Jonah say, that's it. I'd rather die than obey God. God said to go east, I'm going to go west. And he goes down, he gets a ticket and gets on a boat, sails to Tarshish. God knows this. This big great storm comes sent from God. God sends the storm. Jonas tells the guys, listen, this big storm is because of me. I'm not obeying God. And they're like, what God do you worship? He's the one and only God. You guys, don't worry about it. Your God just can't do anything. My God's so powerful. …

Isn't that great? Psalm 46.10, be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted among the earth. We just need to be still and to know that. Be still and remember that. As crazy as things are getting in the world, he is going to be exalted. Job said, I know my Redeemer lives. And he also said, I know one day he will stand on the earth. Jesus is coming again, and he's going to stand on this earth, and he's going to rule and reign from Israel. He's going to rule and reign with a rod of iron, and they will beat their swords into plowshares. They will not learn war anymore. The whole world will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord. and it will be a time of peace, a time for us as believers. It's gonna be very different. We'll be in resurrected bodies. I can't even imagine what that's gonna be like. I've wondered, like, how do we get around the earth? …

Pray Desperately
David Platt, 2026-04-15

… You know what the verse was? Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in all the earth. That's a good verse to hear when you're seeing evidence of God opening eyes to salvation in an unreached part of the world. He will be exalted. He has a purpose and he will accomplish it. As a result, we have great confidence when we pray. Who do they pray to? The God who is sovereign over everything in the world. And number two, the God who supplies everything we need. The God who supplies everything we need. Now, I want to let you in on a little secret that the early church knew that we need to know this morning. I want you to turn over to Acts chapter 17. Acts chapter 17. This is not a verse that directly talks about prayer. but it does fill us in on a secret that affects the way we pray. Look at Acts chapter 17, verse 24 and 25. …

… This is the refresh. Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. And then the psalmist echoes again, the Lord Almighty is with us. The God of Jacob is our fortress. And then again, Selah. Stop and think about that. Don't put it down too quick. Don't turn the page too quick. Don't go to start writing notes real quick. Just stop, breathe that in, soak that in. Think about what God is saying. Think about the reality of what God is speaking over your life right now. And when you do, no matter what is coming against you, you can reset in that moment to be still and know that I am God. You know, it's crazy. We open the Bible and we're like, I'm gonna read an encouraging Psalm today. Oh, I think I'll read this one because I love that verse, be still and know that I am God. And especially with this wonderful latte that I'm drinking, I love that verse. …

Watch God Work | Chad Veach
Chad Veach, 2025-11-17

… to whatever God asks and whatever God wants. The Bible says in Psalm 46, verse 10, be still and know that I am God. be still. So that verse to me speaks of don't manipulate, don't force, don't coerce, don't make stuff happen in your own strength, in your own merit. Do you know how many people I've watched marry the wrong person because they forced it? Go through bad business deals because they wanted something so bad? We will not force. We're gonna wait for it's clear, this is heaven. How do you know it's God? I'll tell you how it's gone. so much peace when he shows up in there last verse put this one up, Psalm we are going to taste and see that the Lord is good tangible I can taste it but not only can I taste it, I can see the goodness of God in my life and I don't know what goodness looks like for you next. That's between you and heaven, or whatever breakthrough you need, whatever miracle you're believing for, but I believe that as you're blessed, we're blessed. …

… He writes in that same chapter, chapter 46, verse 10, Be still and know that I am God. And some people misquote that scripture as though there shouldn't be any shouting, shouldn't be any clapping, waving hands, and getting with it in the service. Be still. That's some of you's favorite sermon or favorite text in the Bible. Be still. because you do it the whole service. Except the altar call. Be still and know that I am God. You know what he's saying? If you literally look that word still, internally, no matter how real the trouble is, no matter how the earth is shaking and things are being removed and it feels like your family's going down, be still internally from anxiety, panic, fear, worry, torment, vexation of spirit don't be still and know that even in the midst of whatever I am God they could write it because they went through it and I lost my page again But watch this. on the inside be still but then they write psalms 47 the sons of cora first verse on the outside on the inside be still be at peace be at rest don't worry don't fear but on the outside clap your hands oh you people shout unto god with the voice of triumph Thank you. …

Selah, Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley
Howard-John Wesley, 2019-12-01 · Scripture reading

… He burns the chariot in the fire. Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. You may be seated. In case you're a little slow in having caught on, the subject of today's sermon is Selah. The word Selah shows up in scripture some 74 times. Three times in the book of Habakkuk. And 71 times in the book of Psalms. And scholars who understand Hebrew like Dr. Judy will tell you that there is no real definitive translation for the word Selah. There's no fixed and final way to translate this word. but a key to understanding what it may mean comes when you remember that the psalms are actually songs that Israel would sing. That all 150 psalms are literally the hymn book of Israel, and they would open it up and they would sing these hymns the same way we would sing Amazing Grace or How Great Thou Art. …
