… Oh what a mighty God we serve Oh, how excellent is thy name in all the earth. If you ever heard me speak in an unknown tongue, you know why. Oh, some things I can't say out loud, Father God, in Jesus' name. Oh, yes. And I'm not tired yet. Oh, yes. if the Lord says the same this summer we'll both turn 40 years old praise the Lord 40 years old we've been together since we were 17 and I am so thankful she chose to spend her life with me and I want to make every day worth it, worth the risk and then there's a little church in Conyers Georgia that we lead called TWCC, I can't say the full nickname because I'm in Chicago and everybody at the way know who we are for real, right? It's all love to the Way Community Church. Thank y'all for sharing me this week with fellowship. Y'all pray for me. Love y'all, Lord. We'll not see you soon. Listen, y'all, I want to try to hopefully, you know, stand in this sacred space and help us to mark time. …

… We can read verse 1 and 9 at the same time. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. to praise God's name is to praise God himself you cannot praise his name without praising him you might praise someone without knowing their name if somebody does a random act of kindness for you on the street you might praise how wonderful they are I didn't even get their name but praise that person but when you know a person's name you can't praise that name without praising the person. This is praise for God himself. What name emphasizes here, why would David use name? Why not just say praise the majesty of God? How majestic is your name? Why say name? … You are a heart fixer and a mind regulator, a burden bearer, a heavy load sharer. Oh, Lord, our Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth. We bless your name. We praise your name. thank you for your name revealing your nature and how it's your nature to show up at our point of need. Oh Lord, our Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth. And now God, we thank you and praise you that you have spared us to see another year, a new year. We thank you and praise you for what you are up to. And now, God, we ask that you would order our steps in your word. Lead us and guide us every day. Send your anointing. Father, we pray, order our steps in your word. I'm available to be used as your instrument. So stand in my body. Take over my mind and think your faults. Take my mouth and speak, teach, and preach with power your word. …

He's No Angel, Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley
Howard-John Wesley, 2019-12-08

… So David sits down to write Psalm 8 and listen to what he says. Oh, Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth. He drops on down and says, God, what is humanity that you are mindful of us? For you have made us a little lower, going with your Bible reading self, than the angels. That in the hierarchy of creation, angels are above humanity. and humanity has always looked up to angels because angels serve three purposes for humanity. I feel like teaching Bible. Three things angels do for humanity. Number one, angels are messengers of God's word. When God wants to tell Mary what's going on, he sends Gabriel. When Zacharias needs to know the name of the baby, he sends Gabriel. When Elizabeth needs to know she's about to get pregnant, God sends Gabriel the angel. When Gideon needs to know that he's a mighty valley warrior, God sends an angel. Oh, when God wants to speak to Elijah, he sends an angel. …
