Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.

… who's affected by the dark world. The answer to that is everybody, believer and unbeliever alike is affected. In Matthew chapter 6, verse 10, Jesus says, your kingdom come. Of course, you've all prayed this, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. And listen, with all of the work of the enemy in the dark realm of trying to confuse your life, Christian, defeat you, whisper into your ears and into your life, you're a loser, you're some sort of a sub-Christian, you should pray more, God is very disappointed in you. That's a whopper. That's one Satan used on me a lot when I was a young Christian. Oh, is God disappointed in you? And then somebody told me a long time ago, and I wish I would have heard it sooner. Jack, how can God be disappointed in you when he never expected anything out of you? Where did he say, I need you, Jack? So can you make sure you do this really well? I can't do that. But the enemy comes to your life and says, you know, God loves those people over there, but not so much those people over there. …
… hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. The Lord's Prayer. So how do we pray? Here's point number one if you're taking notes. We pray to a Father in Heaven who loves us. We pray to a Father who art in Heaven. Our Father who art in Heaven. Not our vending machine who art in Heaven. Not our butler who art in Heaven. Our Father. A Father who longs communication and fellowship with us. A father who loves to bless us. He's a generous father. He's a good father. Jesus said it is your father's good pleasure to give to you the kingdom. He's not a stingy God. He's a generous God. So I come to my father. And then I say, verse nine, hallowed be your name. Hallowed be your name. It means I set God apart in my life. In other words, he is above everything else. He is Lord of all. Because if he is not Lord of all, he is not Lord at all. …
And I would like us all to say this out loud together. Let's see what Jesus says. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. The Lord's Prayer. Great one. Memorize that. It's not too long. A template for all prayer. The first three requests in the Lord's Prayer deal with the glory of God, our Father who art in heaven.
… over 2,000 years as our Lord taught us to. In the Lord's prayer, we say, our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. That's what we're praying for, the return of Jesus Christ. Well, here before us in Luke 21 is an answer of Jesus to a question. In fact, it's the longest answer he gave to any question that was ever asked of him. And the question was, what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world? This same talk that Jesus gave is also found in Matthew 24, often called the Olivet Discourse, because it was delivered on the Mount of Olives, which is right outside of the city of Jerusalem. So I want to talk about what Jesus said in this chapter, and just talk about the importance of talking about the end times in general. Why? Because 25% of the Bible is prophetic. So it's not some obscure side note. The Bible literally oozes with the return of Jesus Christ. …
Hi, everyone. My name is Megan Del Grosso, and I'm the student ministry director here at our Resurrection Leawood location. And I'm so excited to get to share with you today. My husband, Mike, and I moved here five years ago with our two kids, Caden and Victoria. And when we moved here five years ago, they were going into preschool and kindergarten. And now they are going into second and fifth grade and time has flown. And in that time, a lot has changed in our lives and a lot has changed in our student ministry. In 2023, the last time I got to share with you, we talked about passing our faith on to the next generation and what that would look like in our student ministry. And we dreamed about the growth potential and all the ways that we could support students here at Resurrection and in the community. And we've experienced a massive amount of growth since then. In the last two years alone, we've grown 22%. …
… I wanna read the context of what he's writing together in Matthew 6, verses one through 18. We'll start with verse one here. Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward with your father in heaven. So, whenever you give to the poor, don't sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets to be applauded by people. But truly, I tell you, they have their reward. But when you give to the poor, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing so that your giving may be in secret and your father who sees in secret will reward you. Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites because they love to pray standing in synagogues on the street corner to be seen by people. But truly I tell you, they've received their reward. But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, that's our word, and pray to your father who's in secret and your father who sees in secret will reward you. …
Well, I feel the need to begin my message with a bit of a confession. And that is, I've never played a game of soccer in my entire life. Now, I know that you're looking at me and saying, but you're here to talk about soccer and how it relates to my life of faith. What do you have to share? Well, I can tell you that this is not only the first. It will be one of many and certainly will not be the last time that my kids know more than I do. because you see, my kids have played a lot of soccer. I thought it might be actually fun to share a couple of pictures of them. First you'll see, this is a picture of my son, Freddie. This is when he was a little guy. He was playing soccer at the field across from our house. And then maybe my favorite soccer picture of all, this is my daughter, Poppy. And she is dressed in a cat costume because why not? …
… hallowed, revered, celebrated is your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Here's a pattern that we see throughout the scripture. The desire of God for the nature of his world to shape the values and the realities, the things that we experience in this world. His world has no lack. His intention for you is to have no lack. His world has no torment. His desire for us is to have no torment. see because there's no torment there i actually have not only a privilege but i have the responsibility to bind torment that i run into in my life in my place of influence to bind that torment to the authority of scripture that says i have authority over all powers of darkness The scripture declares that we will tread upon the lion and the cobra and all the powers of darkness, all the spiritual forces of wickedness. We have the responsibility and the privilege to bind that demon to the contract given in blood in scripture that says, I've been given authority. …
… when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses to the ends of the earth. The kingdom. Jesus famously prays, right? Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as in heaven. What's the kingdom? It's the definitive coming together of heaven and earth. When God's way of being is now fully instantiated here, when this world is drawn up into the higher dimension. That's the kingdom of God. All right, when will that definitively come? That's not for you to worry about, and not for them to worry about, and not for us to worry about. Rather, what? wait here he says in Jerusalem and you will be equipped you will be empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue my work in other words don't worry so much about when this will definitively happen when all of time and space and history is consummated don't worry about that that's up to God what you worry about is receiving the Holy Spirit and now cooperating with that spirit to do the work of the Lord in the world. …
… thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. That has to do with our checkbooks. It has to do with our time, our talent, all of it, right, is when that becomes the priority in our lives. And I've shared this with you before. You know that I don't leave the house without these two things in my back pocket, my billfold, which has my driver's license, my credit cards, cash, my insurance card, and my pocket New Testament with Proverbs and Psalms, right? And if I could get an entire Bible in my back pocket, I'd do that, but this is all I can fit back there. And so every day when I, you know, when I suit up and I'm ready to go, you know, I pick up these things from this little table right by the, where my keys are, right by, you know, where I walk out the door. And I grab these and the question that I have to ask, and I don't always ask it, but somehow just having these in my pockets reminds me of this every day. Which of these am I going to worship? Which of these is going to have priority in my life? Is it my billfold or my Bible? My Bible representing God and God's will and God's word and God's character and God's heart for me? Which of these is going to have priority? Which is going to serve the other? And my aim every day, and what Jesus calls us to, is to make sure that this is what's at the center of our …
… Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Now, when I pray this portion of the prayer, when I get to the thys, and I appreciate, you know, we're praying kind of the old King James English here. We could say your will be done, but I like the thy because it rhymes with my. And when I come to this portion, I really punch the thy. I mean, anytime I say it, thy kingdom come, thy will be done. Why do I punch it? Because my basic orientation in life, and so is yours, is my kingdom come. My will be done on earth as it is in heaven. And so Jesus is upending what's going on inside my heart. He's turning me inside out and he's calling me to pray. And when I pray this, remember, or I'm praying, in essence, I'm praying, Lord, help this be the desire of my heart. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. …
… you will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever amen go back to verse 9 our father Thank you. the western church has fashioned the gospel in such a way that the emphasis the primary emphasis is on individual fulfillment the fulfillment of my call the fulfillment of my dreams the fulfillment of what i want to see from my family my family line there is a place for that because God has no grandchildren. Everyone must come in personal relationship with him and place their faith in Christ for their salvation. So there is the individual. But listen to me, some prayers are so large, they cannot be answered for the individual. They can only be answered in the whole for a body, for a church family, even a spiritual nation. Our father, not my father, our Father who art in heaven the scripture says that I am seated with him in heavenly places this kind of a prayer is not me in the middle of a problem shouting out to God who I hope hears me so that he can come and rescue me instead it is me one who has been raised up in the resurrected Christ to be with him and to engage with him to see his purposes, his plans, his desires fulfilled on the planet. What is his will …
… would feel as at home there as they did in Rome, on earth as it is in heaven. The reason you and I have the assignment of discipling nations, if I can use different language, to bring transformation to culture itself. is so that the fulfillment of the prayer, the Lord's prayer on earth as it is in heaven is actually an apostolic prayer. It's so that King Jesus feels as at home in Reading as he does in heaven. that's the prayer, that's the mandate. And that word apostle, Jesus took out of secular use. My personal conviction is God was the one who inspired the concept in the first place. I like the fact that he uses unbelievers, people that don't know the Lord yet, pre-believers, I should say. I like the fact that he uses pre-believers to create and inspire. If everything came from the church, we become arrogant and independent and snobs. And it's for our good that so much richness comes out of the culture that surrounds us. …
… over the coming weeks. I'd like to invite you, if you brought your Bible with you today, to turn to Matthew chapter 5. We're going to look at verses 3 through 12. But before we jump into that, I want to mention that right before this happens, Jesus is beginning his public ministry in chapter 4, the end of chapter 4. And Matthew tells us that the people who came to see him were the paralytics, the epileptics, the people who were demon-possessed, the people who struggled with mental illness, the people who were broken, hurting, the sinners and the tax collectors. And Jesus preached the good news of the kingdom to them, and he healed their sicknesses. So these were the people that Jesus, you know, was hanging around with. These were the losers, the nobodies, the misfits. These were the people who came to Jesus, which gives you some background as to why he says what he says in Matthew chapter 5, the Beatitudes. These were the people who were hurting the downcast, and now he's going to speak about their blessedness and our blessedness as well. …
… specifically. Your kingdom come, kingdom, king's domain. Your dominion come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. So what we have here is the responsibility to bring the reality of that world into this one until this one looks like that one. And we're going to look at this further when I do kind of the final stretch on this particular series. I'll try to get a little bit more specific. But the mandate is and hear me please, that's not a theory. That's not a command to keep us busy with Christian activities until He decides to come. It's an assignment to bring change. It's an assignment. He does not command us to pray something that he's not ready to answer. He's not interested in keeping us busy. He drafts us into keeping us purposeful, effective. And the prayer, the mandate is on earth as it is in heaven. This started actually in Genesis chapter one when Jesus, when God creates Adam and then Eve, And in this original mission, he says, be fruitful, multiply, subdue the earth. …
… in opposition right he doesn't say he doesn't say pray like this and then live the opposite of that so what does he do he says pray like this your will be done your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We want your world to influence this one. How does it come? Through the delegated authority coming as a co-laborer before the master of the universe, inviting him to enter our home, inviting him to enter our place of influence. Jesus answered and said to him because I said to you I saw you under a fig tree do you believe? you will see greater things than these and he said to him most assuredly I say to you hereafter you shall see heaven open angels of God ascending and descending upon the son of man and I saw a ladder on the earth reach to heaven and angels were ascending and descending you'll see greater things than these. You will see angels ascending and descending on the Son of Man. …
… Let it be real to you. Let's pray it together. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Amen. You may be seated. So in week one, Pastor Josh talked to us about how prayer is simply talking with our Heavenly Father. And in week two, Pastor Sam shared with us that prayer is submitting to our Holy King. And in our final week, I want to share with you how prayer is simply how we live in complete dependence on our heavenly father. And we see this in scripture in 1 Thessalonians 5, 16 through 18. Look at this verse with me. It says, rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances. What is it? It's God's will for you in Christ Jesus. We want to know God's will. But what's interesting is that we see the pray continually. I have it in yellow here, but if you look at what else is being told to us, that is God's will, rejoicing and giving thanks always in all circumstances, that is all prayer, because prayer is worshiping God, prayer is thanking Him, and prayer is petitioning Him, and so this whole verse is basically saying to commune with God, talk to God, let him be your life. If you are in Christ as a believer, …
… Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us today our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever Amen. Amen. Go ahead and have a seat where you're at today. Last week, we learned that prayer is simply talking with God. Today, we're going to learn that prayer is submitting to a holy king. Today, we're going to submit to him. In Matthew 6.10, it says, God's kingdom, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This verse reminds us of a higher purpose. It reminds us of his kingdom, of his will. It realigns our priorities. This is not about my plans. This is not about my purpose. This is not about my name or my kingdom. …
The best definition I can find in the Bible is your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Just think this through with me. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Clearest definition I can find is on earth as it is in heaven. What is God's will for a given situation in your life? On earth as it is in heaven. What ushers that in? Transform mind. do not be conformed to this world be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove I believe miracles take place by anointing. Miracles take place by great faith. But miracles also take place through the flow of the renewed mind. Ushers in the reality of God's will on earth. The renewed mind doesn't yield to the opposing thoughts, the opposing things, the war that goes on in the hearts and minds of people. The battleground is the mind. The renewed mind lives from a different place. And the transformation that we hope to bring to our cities has to happen in here first. …
… get to pray a prayer prayed for generation after generation. So would you pray this with me? We're going to pray. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we've also forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Great job. You may be seated. I think this is a prayer that we've heard from Jesus, whether you've seen it on a coffee mug, or you grew up in a really liturgical church that read it week after week. And it's something that oftentimes we're all familiar with, but we don't actually know what maybe precedes it. And so what I want to do, if you have your Bibles, I want to show you what comes before this prayer, because before Jesus gives us this framework for prayer, he actually teaches us how not to pray. …
… And until then, we pray, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In Jesus' name. Amen. Let's all stand.
… Part of our task is to try to not only pray, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, but it's actually lived that way, to go about our daily lives producing fruit that helps the world that we live in look more like the kingdom of God. I'm reminded in Hebrews chapter 11, these words, this is the great faith chapter. And the author of Hebrews is saying in here, he's describing all these great saints of old who had deep faith and trusted in God. And then he says this, he says, they confessed that they were strangers and immigrants on earth. That is that this is not their final home. They are longing for a better country that is a heavenly one, a better country, a heavenly one. So we know that we live here, but we are strangers in a strange land. We are immigrants or foreigners here. We're gonna live here our entire lives. We're gonna make the best of it. …

… let your kingdom come let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven and then the last phrase he says and say to Zion you are my people there's something that the Lord is doing in the earth where he is enabling you to be a part of the unfolding plan and purposes of God in the earth to redeem situations to heal broken situations to redeem broken lives to be a part of that reality to see it affect an infect more than just the healing of a body, but the healing of a family and the healing of a family line and the healing of a city and the healing of a nation and the purpose of that nation. And here he says, I've put my words in your mouth. And if I can embellish, it was with my words I created the heavens and the earth. And I'm putting those words in your mouth. And I'm going to protect you because I've given you a valuable tool. And then I want you to understand what I'm doing, that you're going to come into a co-laboring role in. I am planting my world on the foundations I'm building in yours. And this process will be used to reveal who belongs to me. …
until thy kingdom come here on earth, just as it is in heaven. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Well, I want to thank you once again for worshiping with us today. It just means so much to us that you are with us. And as we prepare to leave, I'm gonna invite you to go to core.org slash next. Our hope every time that we gather together for worship is that you're gonna be inspired to take next steps in your life of faith, to join us in building Christian community and to grow in your faith individually. And so I wanna remind you of two things that we want you to consider being a part of. One, the Determined Men's Conference that's coming up on February 27th and 28th. It's a great opportunity for all of our guys to connect and to build community with other men here at the church. We're gonna have great speakers and great opportunities for you to engage your faith and to build your social connection, your social network. …
… We release everything that is you. We pray thy kingdom coming, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us now our daily bread. Would you please forgive us of anything that we may have done that would limit the floor of what you want to do? Let your glory, your presence manifest even more. In the name of Jesus, save somebody, heal somebody, deliver somebody, set somebody free, empower somebody. And we thank you. Now anoint my eyes and the lips, only hear, see, and say what you purpose for this moment. And anoint us to be hearers, anoint our minds. In Jesus' name we pray and everybody shout, amen. From these two verses that I've read today, I want to just talk from this simple topic just for a few moments. I want to talk from the topic, I am responsible. I am responsible. According to the liturgical calendar, Advent has just concluded, and we are in what is called the 12 days of Christmas. …
… More of your kingdom. Your kingdom come and your will be done. On earth as it is where? In my life as it is where? In my heart. In Zoe Church. In Los Angeles, California as it is in heaven. Amen. Stand to your feet today.
… Now remember, every single part of our life falls under the assignment of His dream. and his dream is your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. His dream, his desire, everything that he's done, every miracle that Jesus did, every word that he preached, everything that was done was to demonstrate the reality of that world and how it could have effect on this life, on this world. Your assignment is to co-labor with God and to hear his heart. What happens often in prayer is that we pray Let me back up. Start with whatever you think is a good idea to pray for. I know this will sound not very spiritual. Don't ask for direction. Start with what you have because it's easier to steer the car when it's rolling. Start with what burdens your heart. You may be praying for a while and suddenly you feel this shift in the presence where he starts refining the prayer. and it's almost like the Lord says, you know, if I answered your prayer, it would be plan B, but let me show you plan A. …
And every year I enjoy hearing it sung on Candlelight Christmas Eve. It happens after the sermon and before the passing of the candlelight. And because I've been here 35 years, this will be my 36th Christmas Eve as your pastor. and I often will have eight or nine services that I preach and I've heard it over 200 times. It's etched in my memory and on my heart and the words and the melody, they just touch me. And so today we're going to kick off a series of sermons for Advent in which we're going to look at the Advent message through the lens of that song, through its lyrics, its music, and we're going to learn a little bit about the song today. We're going to learn a little history about Israel today, a little history of France, and then we're going to try to ask what is this message of Advent about hope and the message we hear from the book of Isaiah. What does it mean to us today? How does it speak to us today? I want to begin, however, by mentioning, as we said at the beginning of the service, some of you weren't here yet, the word Advent comes from the Latin adventus. It means arrival or coming. And we got that name for this season of preparation and, you know, reflecting and getting ourselves ready for the celebration of the birth of Christ and for His second coming from the Romans. So, the Romans, when the Roman emperor would travel across the …
… has come upon you. But then look at Matthew 6.10. We're taught to pray, may your kingdom what? Come. May your kingdom come. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. And then, of course, the end of the Lord's prayer, the doxology, the worship at the end is what? Yours is the kingdom. So right there in the prayer is the tension. Yours is the kingdom, but may it come, right? We're praying for what already is. Theologians refer to this distinction as the already, but not yet. That Jesus is the once, but future king. The once and future king. He's the ancient of days. He always has been king, and yet he is the king who is coming. He's the king whose reign will come. He will come riding in on the clouds. He will cause everyone's knee to bow, everyone's tongue to confess. Everyone one day will acknowledge his reign, whether on the way to a Christless eternity or on their way to their participation in it. …
… And when I not only pray, but seek to live, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, I find joy in that. When I'm involved in ministry, when I am caring for other human beings, I find the greatest joy in my life, not just for my family, but for people, sometimes people I don't even know. But in the process of doing that, I find life. When I take my eyes off of myself and my concerns and I begin thinking about other people, I find the burdens are lessened in my life. When I'm afraid, I turn to him, I pray, I talk to him, and I sense his presence walking with me in the darkest of places. When I feel unloved, I believe his words, that I am loved, that I am loved by God with a love that's everlasting. And when I face the darkest things in the future, when I think about, you know, even sickness, illness, death, I have hope in the face of those because I know none of those things have the final word. …
… There is no other name. Your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread and forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. Do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. How many want God to do that for you today? Deliver me from the evil one. Somebody shout, deliver me. Yeah, deliver us from the evil one. I really read all of the scriptures to get to that part. Deliver us from the evil one. The title of my message today is Delivered Daily. Delivered Daily. Put that in the comments, please. delivered daily. Say it out loud. Say, delivered daily. And turn around and tell three people, God can get you out of this. Come on, tell them with some confidence and charisma. Tell them with some eye contact. Say, God can get you out of this. Put it in the comments. …
… no matter what anyone else does, God's sovereign will shall be done on earth as it is in heaven. We talked about God's moral will. This is his revealed will for you in the word of God. This is how you are to live every single day. This is his will for how we behave, how we treat other people as God's moral will. We talked about God's permissive will. Because God loves you, he gave you the freedom to choose to love him or not to love him. The freedom to obey him or the freedom to disobey him. And because we have the freedom to choose, sometimes people choose stuff outside of his heart, and therefore he permits it. And the good news is he still uses it toward his sovereign will. There's the sovereign will, the moral will, the permissive will, and the personal will. Before you were even born, God knew the gifts that he would give you. He created you in Christ Jesus to do good works before you were born. …
… that's where you should have your soul directed. Remember last week, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Keep yourself aligned. put your will within the context of God's will, keep your heart fixed above, then you can take in this world with the proper attitude. Not clinging to it desperately. No, no, because you know your treasure's in heaven. Your ultimate goal is union with God, and God does not pass away. God does not change. God is not evanescent. So fix your heart on God, and then you can let go of this world in the proper attitude. Now, with all that in mind, let's look briefly at the gospel, Jesus' great parable. He told them a parable. There was a rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest. He asked himself, what shall I do? I don't have space to store my harvest. So here's a guy, very successful. We'd say today, you know, he's a private equity investor who just made tons and tons of money, and he's got homes and cars and vacation homes and all that. …
… It's the same picture that we see in the Lord's prayer. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. That's the picture. The church speaks with the authority of Christ against sin. And I love what one writer said. He said, Never is the church more in harmony with heaven and operating in perfect accord with Christ than when dealing with sin to maintain purity. Never is the church more in harmony with heaven and operating in perfect accord with Christ than when dealing with sin to maintain purity. By what authority do you do church discipline? By the authority of heaven as a reflection of the words in the authority of Christ. Second, or next, it's third on the list there, we will pray according to the promise of Christ. We will trust in the authority of Christ. We will pray according to the promise of Christ. Matthew 18, 19. Again, abused. I tell you that Jesus says that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. …
… touch my sister touch them enough to let them know they can make it another week touch them enough to know that it's already worked out in heaven and it will be done on earth as it is in heaven touch them enough to know that there is nothing that escapes your all-seeing eye and that the wings of el shaddai the most high god are hovering over your children today i thank you lord for your promise that he who dwelleth in the secret place of the most high will abide under the shadow of the almighty. And I thank you that no weapon formed against your children will prosper. We thank you that the church of Jesus Christ is being built and the gates of hell will not prevail, have not prevailed, cannot prevail. For we know a name that is greater than Satan, greater than darkness, greater than cancer, greater than depression, greater than diabetes, greater than sickness, greater than guilt, grace that is greater. The name of Jesus, give him praise, children. …
… Do you have an expectation? Matthew 13, the same thing happens. Same thing happens. Verse 58. Go to verse 58. Matthew 13, 58. I just want them to see this. Verse 58. And he did not do many deeds of power there because of their unbelief. So sometimes you block your own blessing because your heart ain't right during the preaching moment. The preacher wasn't that good. No, you weren't listening that good. I ain't never heard a sermon where I ain't getting nothing out of it. Because here's what's happened sometimes. Even if the preacher didn't work the text, I fell in love with the text reading it while they were preaching it. And I went home and studied the text on my own and wrote my own sermon. And said, now this is how it should have been. Or could have been. I'm serious. they preach in Psalm 23 talking about making it on broken pieces now that don't make no sense ain't no broken pieces in Psalm 23 but since you pull Psalm 23 and even if you mishandled it and don't make it make sense I'm going to sit there and read it and get something I'm going to leave saying the Lord is my shepherd yes he is and I shall not want and he going to make me lie down in green I get happy reading the scripture because that's how much anticipation you ought to have Listen, if nobody but those of you in this room right now …
… Pray then in this way, Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. And thinking about Father's Day, again, I was drawn to this passage because it repeatedly addresses God as Father. That's what we need to understand in its most full sense, the relationship that we enjoy with the eternal God. He is our Father. In what sense? Well, we could say He's our Father in the physical sense. In the natural sense, Malachi 2.10 says, do we not all have one Father? Has not one God created us? So He is our Father in the sense that He is the source of life for all of humanity and all of creation. …
… pray say our father which art in heaven hallowed be thy name that kingdom come that will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread forgive us come here our debts as we forgive our debtors and depending on what tradition you're from forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and that's in the prayer so you telling god lord forgive me based on how i forgive others how you walking around with malice and resentment and bitterness and you praying in the prayer lord forgive me based upon my ability to forgive others so you're telling god i'm giving you permission if i don't forgive god please don't forgive me now who in this world who listening to me tonight can afford for god to stop forgiving you all have sinned and come short of the glory of god the wages of sin is death but the gift of god is eternal life who in here can afford i mean think about it now for god to say all right no more forgiveness for you no more no no no everything you do wrong you're gonna pay for it every time you mess up i'm gonna make sure you reap exactly what you sow who in here can afford i want to see the hands right in yeah you put your hand up in the chat if you can afford that no i think we all need grace no i think we all need god's love i i think we all need god's mercy i …
… like this your will be done on earth as it is in heaven he gave a very specific assignment that as you relearn now how to represent me and my world, my dominion, my lordship. I want you to make this place like that place. I want you to pray it. It doesn't happen because of our wisdom. It doesn't happen because we have brilliant strategies to transform cities or whatever. Those things have value, but in their place. They come because he comes. They come because there's something that happens in that, if I can use the term, a collision between the reality of heaven and the reality of earth. If we could take just one small story out of the gospel of Matthew, it'd be in Matthew 12, where Jesus says, if I cast a demon out of you by the spirit of God, then the kingdom of God came upon you. It's one of those moments where Jesus is describing something that they've been watching him do. Now they've been watching him heal. They've been watching him deliver. …
… we pray God thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven and my fear is that things on earth in the church are so different than it is in heaven when we have people every week go to our worship services and they walk out and they start evaluating like hey how was church today? They go eh it wasn't that good I didn't really like the worship did you like the worship? Hey did you guys like that last guy? These are like normal things that we say and I'm just going how did we get here? Have you ever stopped and realized what a stupid thing that is to say? I didn't like the worship? Just sit down someday and think about that. How did we get here to the point where it's normal and every single church service or someone to walk out going, I didn't really like the worship? I mean, did it ever occur to us that we weren't worshiping you? and this has nothing to do with you. …
… And our whole prayer, right, that we learned was, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. See, in heaven, God's not up there saying, okay, how can I entertain you during a worship service? In heaven, everyone's focusing on the throne and go, man, it's just amazing to be in your presence. What if we were the generation that actually got excited just to worship him again and actually showed up with a gift and said, God, I came just excited with this gift of thanksgiving, this gift of worship, this gift of encouragement to other people. What if we came tonight just saying, Jesus, it's so amazing that I get to come here and adore you. As I thought about what does he want? I think that's what he wants this Christmas. I think that's what he wants every day. That let's kill this whole consumer mindset because maybe you came honestly. Just think it through. When you came tonight, were you thinking about giving or receiving? …
… want me to do what do you want me to do what do you want done here because we say that will be done on earth as it is in heaven and i'm just going god this isn't about me this morning i don't care you wanted to rain okay you wanted it to rain that's what you wanted what else do you want well how could this look more like heaven and the thing i kept hearing back i'm not saying an audible voice but i'll say this the thought that kept coming through my head is man it is so not about this one hour it's about the other 167 hours this week you know like are you living a spirit-filled life I mean, yes, it's important to come here, you know, addressing one another in Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. It's important to come here and sing and make melody in your heart, but God doesn't want the song to end. That's the way it is in heaven. Okay? It's now let's all get geared up for that hour. He says, I want spirit-filled men and women who are singing from their heart and making this melody, and it's just not broken, and nothing breaks it. You can have the worst thing happening and you'll still have 10,000 reasons for your heart to just sing out to him. …
… Charlie and I were praying before. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. There's no fear up there. Is anyone afraid up there? And we're praying, God, make it like that in this room. Your presence is here with us. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I'm not afraid of anything. If I'm standing there in the garden with the creator of everything, there's no fear if my spirit and his are one and then everything he's saying there in in john 15 man the the words just abide in me just abide in me he makes it so simple he goes just abide in me i'm the vine you're the branches whoever abides in me and i in him he it is that bears much fruit for apart from me you can do nothing. If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish will be done for you. By this my fathers glorify that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. …
… and your will would be done on this earth as it is in heaven. Because we know today the things that are happening on the earth this very day. The rebellion. The pride. We're saying, God, we want your will here on earth like it is in heaven where you reign and you're the king. We want your kingdom here. We want your will to be done on earth just like it's done up there. And today we just want our daily bread. We're good with that. Just provide for us. We need you to provide for us. Forgive us our sins Our trespasses As we forgive those who trespass against us Where we go, God Just as I want your forgiveness Right now, I'm just letting go of everyone Who's hurt me All the deep, deep bitterness, God Forgive me as I forgive them And lead me not into temptation I don't want the temptation I want it out of my life Get it out, whatever it is Get it out deliver me from evil for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever Amen So this is what people have prayed for 2,000 years Can you think about how millions of people have prayed the same prayer over millions of years and I just want to join with them right now So would you guys pray with me? …
… thinking it's no big deal to face him at the end of their lives. I mean, do you understand the arrogance on this earth. Understand why we cry, Lord, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. God, would we humble ourselves like those high angels and just understand who you are? and some of that comes by reading passages like Isaiah, where God promises, look, the arrogant, they will be humbled. They'll be hiding in caves awaiting my wrath. Meanwhile, there's people who are like Isaiah, who understand who God is, understand they have no business being in the presence of God, and says, woe is me, and he admits his sin, confesses his sin. And that's when in verse 6, Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar, and he touched my mouth and said, Behold, this has touched your lips. Your guilt is taken away. Your sin atoned for. …
… Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The clearest description of the will of God in the Bible is in that prayer. It's a word that refers to the dreams, the wishes of God, the things that he desires. It is held in contrast with another word in the New Testament that describes the will of God. And that word is actually used to describe that which is fixed. It is set. It will happen. You can vote yes. You can vote no. You can participate. You can oppose. It doesn't matter. It's going to happen. This particular word is the word that actually refers to the dream of God, the passion of God, the things that he would love to see happen. For example, God is not willing that any should perish, but that all come to repentance. We know that people perish, but it's not God's will. It's his desire, it's his wish, it's his dream that all would come to repentance. …
